I got this job through CoreNet Global. The IMF was looking for someone for this job from East Asia, Middle East, and Africa as, demographically, those regions were underrepresented in the organization. At that time, I was a CoreNet Global member in China, working for Siemens as the head of Siemens Real Estate for Northeast Asia. I have worked in CRE for more than 20 years now. Anna Huan Yang Assistant Director International Monetary Fund What is your biggest accomplishment? Being a successful female leader in a male- dominated society in China. Female profes- sionals have been struggling to balance work and life. Throughout my career, I have been encouraging females to take up the challenge. I have a good understanding of cross-cultural differences and have worked with people from different countries and backgrounds. What's one of your favorite quotes? "Be honest rather than clever." Honesty makes my life simple and enjoyable. I always strive to be truthful, honest, and straight. While Eastern culture is high-context and Western culture is more low-context, I choose to be more direct, open, and precise. What is the last book you read? I listen to a book whenever and wherever I can. I also read more than one book at a time. The last book I listened to is "Principles: Life and Work." I've also just finished reading "Co- Active Coaching." People would be surprised to know. . . I do oil painting. I've just picked up the brushes lately and realized I truly enjoy paint- ing. To me, painting is like meditation. I enjoy painting natural subjects such as the sky, open waters, flowers, and trees. CORPORATE PARTNER PROFILE i f not in C re , what would you be? What do you want your legacy to be? A good person who has enjoyed life and made positive impact on society and the people I know or don't know. Tell us about your family. I have a very supportive husband and a loving daughter. I also maintain a close relationship with my mother, who lives with us. My husband works for the government. My daughter graduated from college this year and will start her first full-time job in New York. We are really excited for her.
