8 September 2018 the leader M E S S A G E F R O M T H E C H A I R M A N David Kamen, MCR.h Chairman Americas Real Estate Services Leader | Business Enablement Ernst & Young LLP "Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself." This quote has always stuck with me and still reminds me today of how my career has evolved over the years. CoreNet Global has also changed and continues to change with this profession. I started my career mastering the multiple HP calculators that I was given to make financial sense of real estate. Then came "corporate" real estate. The calculators moved out, and then we began to look at the overall impact and less at the individual transaction. What happened to the transaction? Turns out it is actually still there and remains very important to the business. It's full of risk and lots of capital. Ah, so it is still relevant. Where's my calculator? And so they say, "there's a course for that, too." That's what is great to me about the CoreNet Global experience. Whether you're just getting started in the profession, in the middle of a long career, or just about ready to turn out the lights, there are opportunities to connect with peers, learn from others and contribute to our collective body of knowledge. It's been a privilege to see the association's evolution over the years and to have played at least some small part in shaping what it has become today. My time as a chapter leader, Master of Corporate Real Estate (MCR) student, and faculty member and now as Global Chairman has afforded me a unique vantage point, and the trajectory of the profession and association remain strong. It's been a strategic priority for CoreNet Global over these past few years to focus on adding value at each stage of the member lifecycle. To this end, we've added a number of new offerings as follows: University Level We continue to find new ways to raise the profile of the profession with college students. To support our efforts, we partnered with 29 other real estate-related associations to develop www. careersbuildingcommunities.org, a new website designed to increase awareness about all of the different career opportunities that exist across the built environment. Early Career Level For those members with less than five years of experience, we recently launched a new professional designation called the Qualified Professional of Corporate Real Estate (QPCR). The e-learning and virtual classroom program focuses on building essential skills and knowledge. Mentor Match, our virtual mentoring service, pairs mentors and mentees in a unique opportunity to learn from others in your own town – or from any of the 100 countries where our members call home. Mid-to-Senior Level If you haven't yet earned your MCR designation, the entire program has been revamped and now includes some virtual classroom experiences. Our Senior Leader of Corporate Real Estate (SLCR) designation is presently under renovation so that we continue to meet the needs of our most experienced members. In recent years we've focused on recognizing members for their accomplishments through the Corporate Real Estate Executive and Young Leader of the Year awards. Now, we have established a Distinguished Leaders Circle. Those inducted into the circle will receive the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a member. Honorees will be announced later this fall. Don't bother dipping a toe. It's much better just jumping in. There is no better time to be a member of CoreNet Global no matter your position, location or career stage.
