B enchCoRE, CoreNet Global's powerful new portfolio benchmarking service, took another step forward recently with its first annual Users Group Conference. BenchCoRE subscriber Oracle hosted the event at its office space on the 45 th floor of the Willis Tower (e.g., the former Sears Tower) in Chicago. Attending the event were 21 senior representatives from subscribers across a wide range of industry sectors, including technology, insurance, financial services and more. The group met to discuss early findings from using BenchCoRE to benchmark their real estate portfolios. Three subscribers – UnitedHealth Group, Jackson National Life and Oracle – gave presentations. The value of participating in BenchCoRE continues to grow along with the volume of data in the system. BenchCoRE now has detailed portfolio data from about 20 participating companies, with approximately 190 million square feet (roughly 18 million square meters) of space in 4,700 facilities across 104 countries. What's more, an additional 20 organizations are committed to participate and contribute their data. Subscribers are using the power of "big data" to uncover opportunities for cost savings and greater efficiency in their portfolios. These cost savings can easily run into the millions of dollars. "Data is the fundamental language of business today, and Real Estate needs to participate in that journey," observed Peter Holland, CoreNet Global's Director of Benchmarking Services. "Real Estate must accelerate the pace of using data and external benchmarks."
