Organizations around the globe await the results of the 2017 H. Bruce Russell Global Innovator's Award (GIA), which will be announced in Seattle at the CoreNet Global Summit in November. The award, sponsored by Gensler, invites finalists to compete at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Here are summaries of the finalists – some of the most groundbreaking technology, space design and service delivery models in CRE today. ANZ Banking Group: generative-art installation As with most industries today, retail banking is undergoing sig- nificant digital disruption. Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) set out to create at its flagship Martin Place branch in Sydney a flexible, cross-functional space that maintains human engagement while adding digital elements. The result is an interactive space that encourages a sense of wonder, the centerpiece of which is a three- story virtual garden – an illuminated glass wall that features plant and animal life that can be manipulated by customers through hashtag tweeting. At least 30 flat screens comprise the "discovery" zone, where customers have the opportunity to explore services and engage with bankers in a new way.
