FINALIST Melissa Pesci is bringing a millennial vibe to the CoreNet Global Northern California Chapter. Recognizing her generation's love of podcasts, she spearheaded a program for her chapter. After pitching the idea to the board of directors, she was soon on her way to organizing and hosting the new podcast series. The program has been such a hit that it has garnered interest from prospective sponsors, setting it up for extra revenue generation for the chapter. With her natural public-speaking abilities and her enthusiasm for what she does, Melissa is a thought leader in workplace strategy and design. She has presented on topics such as California's Building Energy Efficiency Program, attracting top talent, and life/work balance for professional women. And it didn't take Melissa long to make an impact at HGA Architects; within her first year, she built a team that realized net sales revenue in excess of $1.6 million. In her second year with HGA, her team achieved more than $2.2 million in net sales revenue. Melissa helped launch HGA's Small Project Delivery Group, which developed tools that aided in growing profit margins by between 5 and 7 percent. Another notable accomplishment includes working with the Digital Practice Group to integrate virtual reality tools to help clients visualize their spaces. Melissa is actively involved in finding creative ways to further Young Leader involvement at the chapter level. Some of her many initiatives included increasing social media presence, as well as the number of events and participants at events, and an increase of overall Young Leader membership from 82 to 106. Melissa was named one of CoreNet Global's 36 Under 36 in the July 2015 issue of the LEADER magazine. Sara Wang is certainly making her mark with Young Leaders in China. Inspired by research presented by CBRE on Asia Pacific Millennials who are shaping the future of real estate, Sara brainstormed a workshop that drew an attendance of 40 Young Leaders for education and networking opportunities. She located the venue, invited speakers, sought funding, hosted the workshop and even moderated panel discussions. As if single-handedly pulling together a workshop isn't noteworthy enough, Sara also keeps an open line of communication with key journalists to make sure important CRE news is making its way into the world. She prepares press releases and organizes press conferences to ensure news is reaching well-known outlets. Her content has been picked up by The Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Bloomberg and China Daily, to name a few. Her topics have included co-working spaces, logistics properties and tenant's demand by growing companies. Sara has made great strides as marketing communication manager for China at CBRE. Her responsibilities include content creation and social media management, resulting in great success on WeChat, China's leading mobile messaging and social media platform. She has increased the organization's WeChat readership by 20 percent since she joined CBRE in May of 2016. As an active CoreNet Global member, Sara was selected as the China Chapter representative for the CoreNet Global Leadership Forum at the Atlanta headquarters in February of 2017. Sara is continuously looking for ways to expand and grow in her career, whether it is professional development, independent learning, or making the next bold move to help advance the CRE profession.
